SMART. EASY. COOL.
HYDROCHILL®
Southwest Greens of Augusta is glad to deliver and install turf that saves Augusta families and businesses time and money giving you the ability to pay attention to the things that really matter. By implementing our progressive HydroChill® cooling technology, we have combatted the summer heat in a smart and simple way. A simple add-on to the turfs infill provides an average cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works automatically when wet by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Perspiration is an ordinary cause of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of condensation from the skins surface has a cooling effect. Similarly, HydroChill® has proven to cool synthetic green surfaces through the same process. As the turf surface is heated up by solar radiation, moisture stored in the HydroChill® turf is released. Evaporating water eliminates heat, creating a cooler, more pleasant green for the players.
- HydroChill® utilizes moisture to create a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation will help keep your lawn cool for days, contingent on local weather conditions.
- HydroChill® can be incorporated into most of Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
- HydroChill® will not hinder the stability or warranty of Southwest Greens products.
- HydroChill® is UV-resistant and needs to be re-treated every two years for maximum effectiveness.
WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?
The temperature outside doesnt always determine surface temperature. Other elements contribute to an objects surface temperature, including cloud cover, wind, the suns angle, and other elements.
HydroChill® gives you maximum benefit when the sun is closer to the Earth, as illustrated in the solar radiation calendar. During the summer in Augusta, the sun rests high in the sky, causing surfaces to draw more heat, resulting in hotter temperatures. The rotation of the Earth is likewise responsible for hourly variations in the suns light and making HydroChill® most effective during the hotter time of a clear day when needed most.
